Which hosting company to choose?

Our favorite hosting company is Digital Ocean. Here is why we use it.

Easy to use

Signup does not take more than a few minutes and then you're ready to start. Spin up a droplet (VPS) in a matter of seconds and you're ready to deploy or test your projects.
If you want to test your projects on a large server you can do that. If you spin up a droplet with 128GB RAM and 24 vCPU's and keep it on for just one hour it will not cost more than $0.952. You just have to remember to delete it when you are finished.

To create a new droplet you just click create, select OS, size of the droplet and the preferred location of the datacenter. Under a minute later it's ready :-)

DigitalOcean is fully featured with floating IP's, load balancer, monitoring (free), spaces for storing and they also have an API so you can fully automate everything there.

It's cheap

The cheapest droplet on DigitalOcean doesn't cost more than $5. And for those $5 you'll get 1GB ram, 25GB SSD, 1TB transfer and 1vCPU. $5 is not more than $0.007 per hour. 1GB ram might not be that much, but it gives an indication on their pricing levels.

A droplet with 4GB RAM, 2vCPU's and 80GB SDD does not cost more than $20 per month. And with this server your site can handle a big chunk of traffic. If you are expecting a spike in your traffic you can temporarily upgrade your server in just a few minutes. Add 32GB more RAM for four hours for under a dollar.

If you refer a new user he/she will receive $10 of free credit and once that user spends $25 on DigitalOcean you will also receive $25 for yourself.
If you want to try DigitalOcean for yourself you can use this referral link: https://m.do.co/c/d3cdd4293e67. As I said you will receive $10 when you sign up :-)

I have been a customer at DigitalOcean for 3-4 years now and I have not experienced any downtime that has not been announced at least a couple of weeks ahead. And once they announce downtime for upgrading their servers or somethings like that, I still have not experienced downtime every time. I think it might have been a hour or two all in all.

If I have written any wrong prices or numbers here, please do not hold me responsible for any typos.
